Fan Buzz reports that Shawn Johnson's husband, Andrew East, is a former NFL player. While Johnson was busy winning gold medals and competing in the Olympics, East was working on his football skills. The new dad played ball at Vanderbilt but went undrafted after finishing up his college career in 2015. Although he wasn't picked straight out of college, East went on to enjoy time with multiple professional teams, which eventually led him to become the long snapper for the Washington Football Team.
East met Johnson through his brother, Guy, at the 2012 Olympics. Guy competed as a track cyclist during that time, and Johnson had just retired from her professional gymnastics career. Shawn and Andrew quickly hit it off and began dating before East finally popped the question on the field at a Chicago Cubs game in 2015. The two tied the knot in April 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee in front of their closest friends and family members, per Us Weekly. The following year, the couple shared the heartbreaking news of their miscarriage before welcoming their daughter, Drew, in 2019. Although both Johnson and East are retired from their lives as professional athletes, they currently enjoy their time as parents and also run their own company called Seven Summit Media, per People Magazine.
